Is HMS in trouble with three of its teams struggling early on? JR is the only Hendrick driver in the chase and has looked good in every race. Has Rousch closed the gap this year or is this just a fluke? And what about Gibbs? Rowdy and Jr seem to be the most cometitive every week, I guess these guys made out well in the off season. Lets hear what the general consensus is...................

fitzman, you need to ask this question in about 6 more weeks. If after 8 or nine races the Hendricks drivers are in the 20's in points then you can say they may have a problem. But right now the points can change so fast that a good run by all three and there will be no wondering.
So for now I would say there is no way anyone can say they are in trouble. A slight concern maybe but not in trouble. And even though I'm not a Hendricks fan, I wouldn't take a bet right now that JJ and Jeff won't be in the top 5 come chase time.

As of now the only teams I would say are in trouble are those who have missed races, with those out of or close to the top 35 cut off in danger. Other than that, there's plenty of time. I'm a little surprised by Johnson and his terrible run at Vegas, but Gordon's problems have been a wreck and I don't remember what happened at Daytona. Mears has had 2 wrecks and got caught a lap down for much of the race last week with a car fast enough to finish top 5-10.
I do think Roush, Gibbs, etc. have closed the gap, but really after last year that's not hard to do. In the end Hendrick will have 3 in the chase and Mears will be in the top 20.

I don't think Hendrick is in trouble at all. I don't even think it's fair to say they have struggled. One bad run, one suspension failure and two wrecks account for Jeff and Jimmie's troubles. A lot of bad luck for three races? Absolutely. A sign that they have forgotten how to be competitive? Absolutely not.

HMS will be fine, like Mikeyfan said, three races don't make a season. Come Chase time there will probably be 3 of their 4 cars in or close to it.

Mikey, here is what I am thinking.....Chad Knaus and Letart, mostly Knaus, have the entire circuit figured out for the old car. They have also mastered cheating/challenging the grey area, call it what you want, it is what it is. I'm not bad-mouthing either of them, they have been doing great jobs for great teams and good drivers, but now that they have to rewrite the books and can't use their notes don't you think that they are average now? At least among the top 4 or 5 teams? Junior has Eury jr that he brought with him and better rescources now at HMS. I just think the 48 and 24 won't be as dominant as they were last year, probably will make the chase, but not as dominant. I am a JR fan, and I know it is early but their confidence and better equipment are showing. Jr is driving with a pupose, kinda like Kyle Bush.

fitz, I can see where you're coming from, but don't forget that Hendrick just simply dominated last year. It didn't matter if it was the old car or the COT, they were a threat to win.
But I think you're right, they won't be as dominating this year. Gibbs, Roush, Penske, and possibly even Childress have cut the gap considerably. Should be a fun year.

Considering without problems Jeff Gordon would have a top 5 in every race this year, I wouldn't think they're in trouble at all. It's just a matter of time before they pull of 4 straight wins or something. All I can say is enjoy it while the bad luck lasts, but with the exception of Jimmie Johnson totally missing the setup, the Hendrick cars have run great so far and bad luck has cost them. Better get it out of the way now than in the chase.

Also I want to add that HMS tested the COT last year at all the chase tracks and they put heavy emphasis on that. 2 of the 3 tracks they've run this year have never seen COT action other than testing and I think HMS shot thier wad last year and everyone else has caught them. Plus Rousch has five teams, an advantage over HMS's 4 when it comes to spreading around testing and sharing information. I'm glad JR is doing well and I hope he is the top finisher of the HMS stable. I also hope he gets their first win this year. I'm just feelin everyone out.....not up.....are you feelin' me..????

Fitzman, if you are saying that HMS is in trouble because they will not dominate like last year, then I agree. I said at the beginning of the season I didn't think any driver would win more than 3 races this season. I still believe that, even though Edwards has already won 2. With that being said, I don't believe you can say a team is in trouble until after 8 races then we can look at the standings and say this team needs to hustle or this team is in good shape.

The only thing Gordon is missing is a little bit of luck. HMS will be in the mix when we close in on the chase.

Mikey, your right, I guess what I was really saying they aren't as dominant and maybe lost a step on the cometition. MWR needs to step it up though, JGR is makin' them look silly with Toyotas. Sorry, I like MIKE but that's how I see it. And unfortunately, I think Edwards will win more than three races. Might even win the next one where he got his first. He drives his butt of at the fast tracks where loose is fast..........

fitz... I think what you're trying to say is that you would just like to see only Jr. do well at HMS this year. Well I hate to break it to you but, I think Jeff is getting his bad luck out of the way early. I hope Dale wins races this year and makes the chase and I don't have a doubt he will.. but, if you think just because JJ and Jeff haven't won yet and have been fallen behind that it's a sign HMS is in trouble then you're in for a disappointing year. I think even Casey is going to get it together before long. Yes I'm feeling you... you're hoping their bad luck continues.. am I right?
By the way you should broaden your vocabulary because some of you words and phrases are a little disgusting. IMO!

Gordo-24, I'm not hatin' on Hendricks and only showing love to JR. I hope they do well, I fully expect Gordo to get a few more titles, but I would like to see someone other than JJ win it this year. I really like Casey Mears, I followed him at Ganassi.....I am a hugh Sterling Marlin fan........and here comes the sarcasm from that. If I had to pick one driver right now it would be JR, and Casey is my #2. Gordo and JJ I don't really like or dislike, I have to respesct them and what they have accomplished. I just thought I would see what everyone else thought from both sides of the fence.
