What's your greatest memory of this program?  Include the Clem years.  Those years can be stripped from the record books, but not from our memory.

The two Bobby Jackson years were great and I'll always remember the Clemson and UCLA games of the Tourney, but I'm partial to the Richard Coffey and Willie Burton teams.  These were the guys that were playing when I was a jr. high kid and all my buddies and I talked about were the Gophers.  They were the first experience I had with being passionate about a team.

Wierd, I was going to say the two Bobby Jackson years too xD. There's some other ones but still my favorite was those, though I don't watch them a ton anymore.

My personal favorite memory had to be when Minnesota beat UCLA in the elite eight to get to the final four. Everyone (including the ESPN and CBS college basketball analysists) was predicting we would lose to UCLA, even though we were the #1 seed. All I heard the days preceding this game was how UCLA had so many NBA recruits and how their talent was double that of ours. Then we took it to them. I still remember watching the end of the game at my aunt's house. It's hard to believe that was 11 years ago.

My greatest Gopher memory was during the NCCA Big dance when the Gophers had UK on the ropes, but could not knock them out.  Clem the Gem had this team playing outstanding Basketball.

Maybe not the greatest team, but nothing comes close to my memories of the Willie Burton / Richard Coffey era.

The rest of the big ten was fun then too.  The coaches of that era were great as well.  Knight, Keady, Jud...

Well, I'm showing my age here but my favorite memory of Gopher ball was back in 1982 with the Big Ten champs starring Randy Breuer, Trent Tucker, Darryl Mitchell, Tommy Davis, Jim Peterson, etc.....made a run in the tourney and lost to Louisville in the sweet 16 game but that team was solid.

I remember seeing nearly every game at the Barn that year with my brother and that place was ROCKING.

Good memories.

Aside from Willie B, Richard Coffey, Kevin Lynch, etc...I would say one of my single game memories from the Final Four team happened at The Barn against Iowa.

Andre Woolridge, who was having an MVP-caliber season leading the league in scoring and I think assists was having a decent game against us.  He was taking issue with the crowd chanting M-V-P whenever Bobby Jackson had the ball and after a basket later in the game put his finger to his mouth to hush the crowd.  A while later Bobby D'd up against Woolridge, picked his pocket and went in for the lay up.  The place went wild...MVP indeed.

Way cool, we need more memories like that.  Time to start some new ones.
