I was thinking. ATL, has Mark Tex. and his contract is up after this season and since they really don't have the means to sign him.

The Mets Carlos Delgado's contract is up after 08. Why don't the Mets go after Mark in the 09 offseason.

Then He, Wright, Pedro (will sign a contract), Johan will all be at the new park.

Tell me your thoughts

Wow, another 150 million at least.  Im sure they will look into it, but I dont think the lineup is the issue in NY, i think its the back of the rotation (health).  I think the usual teams will be involved in the bidding for Tex, Boston, Yanks, Mets, even the Orioles have been mentioned.  Watch out for the Rays to make a splash, Pena can DH and bring in Tex, that would make their lineup very very good.

I think Tex will be staying in Atlanta, he seems very happy and Chipper loves having a switch hitter after him, also it looks like Atlanta might be willing to give him the money they didn't spend on Andruw, I think the Orioles are also an option since Tex grew up there and their owner tends to give huge contracts to hitters(while ignoring pitching).

real intelligent comment Jimmy...you are an ass!

I'd love to see Tex in a Met uniform next year, unfortunately I don't think it will happen unless they can get some more cash off the books. I don't see him staying in Atlanta either because they just won't pay him what the market value will be.

The Mets have no one remotely ready to be there regular first baseman. Carlos Delgado cannot stay healthy. Mark Teixeira would be an ideal fit at the position for the 2009 season and beyond. His asking price will be high but he is well worth the investment.

Texas loved this kid, the only reason they got rid of him, was they knew they would not be a playoff threat for at least 2 years, Teixeira was going to sign with Baltimore in 2 years  and they could re-build there farm system with his trade. There are about 15 teams that would love to have Tex, but I believe his heart is in Baltimore and Angelos is selling off his team to sign him for next year. Problem is that there will be no support in Baltimore and Tex would be better off signing almost anywhere but Baltimore.

Let's try to keep our racist views out of this area.  These type of responses seem to hint that there is something wrong with having a team heavy on Latino players.  Who really looks at it that way?  Jose, Pedro, David, Castillo, Moises . . . they are great no matter what their backround is.  This is an awesome team that is fun to watch!
