A blogger's quick and short look at the Oakland Raiders QB situation.
We had six pass plays over 40+ yards. Only six teams ranked worse.
We had 31 pass plays over 20+ yards. Only five teams ranked worse.
Our No. 1 and No. 2 had zero 40+ yards, and JR had only two plays over 20+yards out of 66 attempts.
This is the No. 65 factor at work! The first commandment of Sims: thou shall not pass the ball over 20 yards or thou shall be sacked, as it was in the Super Bowl lose, and shall be now until the day of my release.
Andrew had only one cameo last year, for anyone who thinks we need a vet like Pep back. This included his five for eight, no INT, and 62.5 percent completion ratio. I'm sorry we didn't see more of him, he is a very capable QB in the NFL, and now with No. 65 gone, he might go to 70 percent when he's called on this year.
Added bonus, he survived the curse of No. 65. These can only be attained by braving a 70+ team-sack season, then forced to sit out 90 percent or more of the following season to heal and regain your confidence.
As for JR, No. 65 got him for three sacks and one fumble that we lost, and the p.o.s. couldn't even jump on the ball or knock it out of the end zone! Another loss delivered by No. 65!

Here are some pro and con blogs about Barry Sims.
josh here's an article on the #65
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/24286-Is-there-a-tackl e-in-the-house-
It goes into the whole nice guy but not getting the job done!
over a 5 year time period he had the sack lead. Yes he beat out the drafties but the article ask why did we not go out and get a all pro at this position?
Flozel Adams was on the fa market only for a few days but he was available and whats wrong with telling the truth? As far as not the Raider way I've more than earned my fan-hood why would you jump on a fellow Raider fan telling the truth and call it un Raider like. Raider like is winning championships not letting the worst starting tackle in the NFL hang around cause he's a nice guy!
Ihave been bi^ching about #65 since our super lose so it's not like I'm kicking a guy out the door in adition I waited a while he was gone in FEB.
You can deffinatly disagree with my take it would be ok to even debate but to just jump on my back well... anyway I asume you're a Raider fan so You would know we expect a much improved year I think 8-8 or 9-7 with a little luck and getting the tie breakers who knows playoffs. The line did an ok job besides #65. We can look forward to 3-4 more wins this year by just replacing him completly unservicable and the biggest piece of the puzzel that needed to be changed sorry it didn't happen 5 years ago!
Also, don't forget that #65 faced some of the top pass rushers in the league the past couple years.
Would it matter San Diego killed him in oakland with an average defensive end. Duberville from Denver also beet him he was below average.

and ...
Don't make us look any worse than "they" say we are, please. I've been in many huddles, cried blood. Litreally. And it's obvious you haven't. Sims put his life on the line everyday for the Silver and Black. What do you know about a brain stem injury? We don't kick the tenured when their time is done. IT IS NOT THE RAIDER WAY. Josh, well said. Frank, I'm a Raider for real, you don't want it with me. Let's get through this extra long off-season and shut the haters up.... Win lose or tie, Raiders till I DIE!

I'm not making the raiders look worse the line did a great job run blocking but had it problems with pass protection that's not a secret stored at fort knox?
I'm glade you can appriciate the game from being in huddles I've played too I'm not nor have I ever been a pro, but I can study film and disect offensive woe's if that was your point?
Dude, I watched #65 turnstyle for the LAST 5 YEARS period dot com. The guy sucked at pass pretection, the most sacks given up by any starting tackle in the NFL over 5 years. I'm not commentting on a guys heart or a guys guts or a guys work ethic . I'm also not claimming he didn't try or was a bad guy or a ingrate. So why would you say itsnot the raider way, I a fan a die hard fan since I was 4 nearing 40 now I pay to sit in great seat I pay to root for my team I have the right to question why the team never brought in a pro bowler at tackle since art shell was here what is wrong with that? George you said you are a Raider for real and I don't want it with you. I've got the right to root for the players that produce if you produce I'll be rooting for you if you aren't getting the job done I'l be callng for you to be replaced beacause I'm a fan and I want to win and you should too! If you think sims was an all pro in any of his years you obviously have a different appriciation for the game then me. I know in the real world if you don't produce they replace you!

Holy Mackerel!!!! A real Donald Hollas sighting!! Believe it or not. Never thought that I would ever hear that name again. Ever. Didn't want to, either.
Donald Hollas, the former Lamar Consolidated football player who went to star at Rice University and in the National Football League, has been named the new head football coach of St. Thomas High School in Houston.
Former Houston Astro Craig Biggio has been named the school's baseball coach, according to reports. Both Hollas and Biggio were to be introduced in a school assembly Tuesday afternoon.
Hollas graduated from Lamar in 1986. A quarterback, Hollas was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1991, and he played for Cincy for four seasons.
He played one year for the Oakland Raiders, in 1998, and retired after the 1998 season. He was listed on the Raiders' roster in 1997, but he did not play in any games, according to nfl.com.
“St. Thomas has had a rich tradition,” Hollas told the Fort Bend Herald Tuesday morning.
“The football program has had its struggles in the last decade and our intent is to restore the St. Thomas tradition of the '60s, '70s, '80s and early '90s.”

This battle will be hot and heavy, with owners not wanting to disclose recource figures and the NFLPA not wanting to agree to concede a thing.
NFLPA Executive Director Gene Upshaw made his case for the media on Wednesday regarding the looming negotiations on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
