Black vs White: Better Athletes???

Ovechkin is a stud.    Part of the reason for whites being more well represented in hockey lies in the fact that it is big in Russia and Canada where the population of blacks is lower:

US:   13%
Canada:  Less than 6%
Russia:  Probably less than 1%

Those were the kinds of out of the box thinking I was hoping for others to share (without so much in depth detail).

I think Blacks are better athletes in certain sports because of the media draw for blacks in basketball and football.  I also think that whites are better in certain sports because of the media.  Whites grow up seeing white role models playing hockey, golf, tennis, and jump shooters in basketball and quarterbacks and kickers in football.  Blacks see roles models in football and basketball, but not much in hockey, or golf (other than Tiger).  I think that if you took a black child and a white child and they had the same muscle mass and size and they grew up in the exact same way or family.  They would be equal.  Environment determines most of it.  Would Eli Manning be in the NFL if his brother and dad weren't?  What If a black child was adopted in the same family? Would he have become an NFL QB also?  My guess is probably, just because of the intense quarterback friendly environment they were raised in their whole lives.  If the leading scorer in the NHL was black would more blacks play hockey?  I would bet money on it.  If Kobe Bryant raised a white child that grew up to his size and taught him basketball he would be great as any black player. 

I'm finished with this one.  There are way too many variables.  We need an experiment with test tube babies that all grow the same size and are raised the exact same way just to prove this.  My money is on them all being the same in the same environment but their is no way to say for sure.

As an aside, what is interesting is that off the top of my head, I can't think of one single black FG kicker ever in the NFL.   Reggie Roby the great punter comes to mind, but that's it.    So perhaps it isn't all just natural ability, otherwise there would be far more black kickers and punters. 

Has there been a black kicker?    Anyone know?

Hispanics are classified as "white" by the government.    But that's a whole different ridiculous issue that the government should "fix."   ;)

Oh yeah, by my last thread I do not mean people should be treated differently.  In different situations people are not equal.  Am I equal to Shaq if I'm trying to make the Suns team?  Is Shaq equal to me when working on computer repair?  True equallity does not exist and never can unless every one was exactly the same person.

Good thread Bong Show.  You have been objective and show true intelligence with this attempted research.  It's too bad the media and rights activists put too much fire in to topics like this and most people get uncomfortable talking about it.

Thanks.   I appreciate it.   The only way to get people to be comfortable is to actually talk about it in a constructive manner.   That's the huge irony.    And you are right, no one is exactly equal (unless they are the Olsen Twins and even they are not truly equal).     We all have strengths and weaknesses and there is nothing wrong with accepting them, whatever they may be.   We also have many similarities and those should be embraced with equal zeal.   

Obviously, I can't monitor this thread every minute of the day, but if anyone sees people getting out of line, I would encourage all of you to "call them" on it and don't let their ignorance dominate the good intentions of the majority.   I thank everyone in advance for this.
