The Wolves greatest need(imo) is for a pure center.  They have never had one.  Someone who is a great defender, great blocker, and great rebounder(Ben Wallace 5 years ago).

IF we can not get Beasley or Rose, I think we trade the pick for a great, young defensive center and a 10-15 pick next year.  I just don't see anyone that great and if we can get a proven D-Center to let Jefferson roam more on offensive, I really like our future.  I think that was always the problem with KG, he was responsible for SO much def. because we never had a center that could pull his own weight(and most of them were small).

If you get the #`1 pick, you draft MB and move him to small forward.  There is no way to pass on a talent like that, ever.  Rose is a great player, but MB is unhumanly good.

I do not think Psycho T, Love, Hibbert, or any of the other big men in this draft are sure things and I am sick of taking chances on centers that bust.

Even if we get Rose or MB, I still think we try and get a Def Center over the offseason. We have cap room(especially if Walker or Jaric leave) and a guy who is here for def does not cost that much.  Jefferson has a very favorable contract as well and most everyone else still has their rookie-deals.

All things being equal, I'd take a center in the draft but there aren't any dominant centers in this draft.  As the previous poster stated we need a defensive stopper to go against Yao, Shaq, Oden, Howard, etc...  That would take some pressure off Al Jefferson and even Hansbrough or Love if we took them.  Maybe Pryzbilla?  Isn't he a free agent?

We don't need another shooting guard either, we already have Foye and McCants.  We need help on the boards and Love or Hansbrough is the way to go to me.  Lets just hope that we get Rose and nobody has to worry about being right or wrong.  From what I've read, the Timberwolves have had their eye on Rose at #1 all along so if we get him, everyone will be happy except for the Beasley worshippers.

What do you guys think of us drafting Joey Dorsey with are second pick if we think he can play center that the next level.  I know hes alot like Richards but i do think he could be a good productive player at the next level, someone like Ben Wallace, doesnt score besides easy buckets plays good D, REbounds well and can block shots.

I think Joey Dorsey would be a step up from Richards.  He is a lot like Ben Wallace.  He can't shoot but he doesn't have to when he's dunking the ball.  He's already 24.  I'm not sure when the next selection for the Wolves is but I've got to believe that he's gone by then anyways.  Getting Rose and Dorsey would be nice, huh?  The T-Wolves did that last year by picking two Gators.

He is projected as an early 2nd round pick.  If we got both Rose and Dorsey i would be very excited for next year.   I to think Dorsey will be more valuable then Richards because of his ability to bloack shots.  He averages 2 blocks a game this year and like 1.8 blocks a game over his college career.  Not to mention his leader ship qualities, he was a force in the paint in college and the one thing we are missing is that force, something none of the other big guys in the draft really did in college.

A.  I am not sure on Pryzbilla's contract status, but he is exactly the type of player we need, though he is pushing 30 now?

The more I look at it, the more Rose is close to equal of Beasley, especially if we get Rose @ #2.  Signing someone @ #2 usuallly means less money and they are more likely to work their ass off to prove they should have been the number one.  Foye could move to his natural position and getting Dorsey to play center in the same draft would be very nice.

Someone said it earlier, but Brewer needs to gain weight, like 20-25 pounds of weight.  If he can do that, we have our defensive stopper.

C- Dorsey or Ben Wallace type
PF- Big Al
SF- Cory Brewer
SG- Foye
PG- Rose

McCants-3rd Guard
Gomes - 3rd Off Forward
Smith-3rd Def Forward

This gives us a very a solid line-up IMO.  All of these guys are under 25.  You have two big scorers in Foye and Big Al.  A great set-up man in Rose.  A def force in the paint @ center and a def force @ SF in Brewer(if he gains weight).  Lots of scoring off the bench, but a little weak on defense.  Smith is really more of an offensive forward, but his size allows him to play some defense. Ideally, I would like an old shot blocker off the bench like Mourning or Ratliff(for cheap) to give some veteran presence as well.

Miami is probably going to get the first pick and i think they are going to take Beasley. The T-wolves do not need a PG they need a PF that can help Jefferson in case he gets into foul trouble in the game. But if the Timberwolves are desprate then take Rose.

a power forward to help a power forward.. dont think so. t-wolves need a true center who can play good d, rebound, and clean up the garbage on offense.

Al Jefferson is a center.  He may only be 6' 11" but what difference does the extra 1 or 2 inches make if you're a solid athlete. Ben Wallace proved that. dennis rodman proved that. Al Jefferson's game is all within 5 feet of the basket, thats a center. Im so sick of hearing he's a pf. He's not. He's not quick enough to pla pf with the likes of dirk, David West, Chris Bosh, Kevin Garnett, Rashard Lewis, Lamar Odom, Josh Smith, Boris Diaw, and the list is endless.  He's way too slow to play pf.  So, in reality, PF is our biggest need and beasly would be great. or rose if we have the # 2, and if we fall below that, we need to go with brook lopez. I likehow NateDoggg says we need a center wo can play good d, rebound, and clean up the glass. well im pretty sure big Al was in the top 5 in offensive rebounding, he averaged like 11 rebounds a game, and he had good defense too. It was hard to tell cause we didnt have a real pf playing alongside him.

alright mak call him whatever you want to but we still need a scrapper down low to compliment him. and half the guys you named could be considered small forwards so your argument about him not being able to guard those "power" forwards doesnt really work

and my point about adding someone to play good d is so big al wouldnt have to guard the better of the 2 big men so he could stay out of foul trouble

I agree they could be classified as SF, but they start at PF.  I think if we had Beasley at PF we would be fine down low. He had the most double doubles (28) in college basketball since Tim Duncan. He's only 6 9 but he's physical. And I also agree that we need a big man, but one that can play away from the basket more than big Al. Lopez would be great, but I wouldn't use a #3 pick on him.  I think if we are stuck at 3 with Beasley and Rose gone, we should trade down and get possibly Lopez at around 10.  Dorsey out of Memphis could be a great player too, and it's never a bad thing to have 2 solid centers on your roster.  Dorsey is a scrapper-type player that isn't even projected to go in the first round. He could be a great find.

Big Al isnt a center!  Most the guys you listed are Small Forwards, Big Al cant guard true Centers.  Shaq, Yuo Ming, Bynum, Oden, Howard.

Big Al can guard KG, David West, Gasol, Boozer.

We need a Big center.  Look at the teams that made it in the west

Hornets Chandler, West

Lakers Bynum, Gasol

Suns Shaq, Amire

Spurs Duncan

Jazz Boozer, Okur

Rockets Mutumbo, Yuo

Nuggets Camby, Martin

Everyteam has a 7 footer and a compliment big man.  One offers big defensive presence the other offers scoring.

Would love to get Dorsey but we would still be missing a big 7 footer,

Best thing that could happen MN gets 5th pick and take Oj Mayo with 1st pick in second round we take Dorsey.  Mayo doesnt take us over the hump this season so we get a high pick in 09 and we get BJ Mullens.
