Isn't the penalty for Robbie Gordon's infraction too harsh? Last year with the Michael Waltrip flak, we were told that the penalty was severe because he violated one of the three cardinal sins in NASCAR:
Thou shall not mess with the fuel system.
Thou shall not mess with the engine.
Thou shall not mess with the aerodynamics.
Now, of these three sins, on the surface, it appears that RG violated sin #3. According to Dodge, the nose didn't change the aerodynamics, it was just putting a Charger front end on an otherwise Avenger.
So what gives with the rather large penalty for a yet unapproved nose? 25 points I could see, but 100?
