If you want to figure out where a politician stands on the issues do NOT listen to a word he says in his campaign, look at his voting record.  Everyone is saying McCain's policies are the same as Bush, the same McCain that was the favorite republican of the media, the same McCain they called the "Maverick" because he bucked the status quo of the Republican Party.....the fact is that McCain is still the same guy he has always been, the only difference is that he is reinventing himself to try and get elected.

McCain's campaign knows that the conservative base stayed home in the 2006 elections because they were fed up with a party that was moving too far to the center....McCain was one of the guys people were frustrated with due to his constant cooperation with the liberal agenda.  Even now, John Kerry said the McCain that is running now is not the same McCain he has known all his life.  There is a reason for that, people don't just all of a sudden change their beliefs they have had for decades, he has reinvented himself as being more conservative than he really is in order to secure his base....just like Obama is reinventing himself as a moderate democrat to try and appeal to the independent voter.

I wish you people would realize this before you start bashing McCain as "McSame" or "McBush" .....just know that both candidates are reinventing themselves to get elected.
