how on earth is butler a top ten team? Granted, they have a gaudy 21-2 record, but they are in thehorizon league. Thats like being the least fat chick at the weight watchers meeting. They have lost to wright state and cleveland state?? Also, have not beaten or even played a top 25 team. Win over Ohio state was good, at least they will probably be atourney team. Hopefully, when they play drake who is in the same boat, they will both somehow lose. Have fun losing in the 2nd round of the dance. out.

Beat Michigan, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, and Florida State...granted these teams are not having stellar years, but you can't blame the schedule. I would say they've earned their ranking. Drake has only beat Iowa and Iowa State, hardly good teams this year....and I am an Iowa fan!...and they are ranked pretty high...maybe too high...but the biggies won't play them!

Those teams have a combined record of 62-55, and none will be going to the tourney except Ohio State. Take out Ohio state and they are below .500, 46-47. Also, everyone of those games was a home game. Their best road win is S. Illinois or Ball State? I agree, they cant help that they have a bad schedule and bad conference, but they shouldn't be rewarded for it with a top ten ranking. I really doubt they could beat any of the teams ranked below them on a neutral court.

Butler has been a Sweet 16 team twice in the past 5 years. There are a lot of big name D-1 schools who can't say that. They deserve their ranking.

"Also, everyone of those games was a home game. "
Actually, EVERY one of those games EXCEPT Ohio State was on a neutral court.
Do some research before you act like an idiot. Go root for your big 6 school who graduates 50% of their players.

Another idiot who has probably never seen the team play a game. I'm glad that someone had pointed out all of the neutral site victories that this clown obviously overlooked. Also, way to finish it off with "out", you jackta$$. Save your misinformed rants for the Jim Rome show. It'd be funny to hear him hang up on you because you don't have your facts in order.
What's up with both Penn State and UConn? Fair weather fan, are we? Got news for you, either of those two would lose to Butler more often than not this season. I'd actually be surprised if PSU kept the loss under 40.

I am a Penn State fan because of Paterno. He has been a classy guy for a long time at that school, I do not follow their basketball team. As for UCONN, I really doubt Butler would beat them more often than not, as you put it. If you hadn't noticed, they are about the hottest team in the country right now. They have wins @Indiana, @Pittsburgh, @louisville, at home aganist marquette just in the last few weeks. You can find all those teams in the top 25. I applaud you for your passion about your team. I saw Butler play in the first round of the NCAAs in Kansas City several years ago. If memory serves, they upset Wake Forest that year and became a crowd favorite for their hustle and tenacity. They may be the cream of the crop as far as small schools go. I just dont think they should be in the top ten because of their inferior competition. Do you really believe they would have the same sucess in the big east? If you take a look at the RPI, which takes into account the strenght of schedule, you will see Butler looking up at UCONN.

also, my bad on the neutral court issue. I looked at Butler schedule and did not see @michigan, @florida state...etc., and assumed they were home games.

...and you would also see Michigan State, Xavier, UConn, Stanford, etc all looking up at Drake. Two weeks ago, you'd have seen them all looking up at Ohio State... who obviously isn't as good. Don't put too much stock into the RPI until the end of the season.
I applaud you for your passion about your team.
Butler is not my team. They are a rival of my team, for which I despise them. However, they are more than deserving. I find it funny that some folks (yourself included) attempt to rip on the competition in some of the smaller conferences. You do realize that for the last several years, the champions of the Horizon league have made a living beating up on the BCS schools that agree to play them... while only losing games to in-conference opponents, right?
2008: Butler vs. BCS Schools: 5-0, Butler vs. Horizon League: 10-2
2007: Butler vs. BCS Schools: 7-1 (only loss to Nat'l Champ Florida), Butler vs. Horizon League: 15-4
25-6 vs conference opponents (80.6% winning)
12-1 vs BCS opponents (92.3%)
You say that they'd not have similar success in the Big East. Based on what, exactly?
