The Bulldogs beat every team in the Valley this year and second place Illinois State twice.  Whoever said that third place Southern Illinois is the only respectable team in the Valley Conference should realize that Drake divided games with them but beat them by four games in conference standings (the game they lost was decided in the last seconds of the game).  The Bulldogs also beat third and fourth place Creighton and Northern Iowa twice.

They seem to play the best against the best competition.   They have excellent shooting with four players shooting near 50% from three land (Jonathon Kox, Klayton Korver, Leonard Houston, and pure shot sensation Josh Young) .  That is hard to defend.  Leonard Houston showed he can sky about  two feet above the basket for the most beautiful alley opp in that Butler game (should make the highlight films).  Adam Eminecker is great at driving for layups and dishing off to three point shooters when the defense collapses.

It's okay if you still don't believe...because the Bulldogs seem to do best when they are viewed as underdogs.

To the ISU fan.....Drake beat you guys twice.  If they're so bad, what does that say about Illinois State?

Gallo, I have the utmost respect for you, and thats why I feel like I need to make this correction before he does with his normal condecending, disrespectful attitiude... the "ISU" fan is actually an Iowa State backer, not Illinois State.  I know its weird, because in my time in Des Moines I always thought Hawkeye fans were the ones who were loudmouths with a God complex, but they've handled Drake's success with a lot more class than Cyclone fans have.  Not to say that Iowa State fans haven't been supportive occasionally, but it seems like every time some idiot has to say that Drake sucks in all CAPS, it happens to be a Cyclone backer.  Just pissed that they can't beat up on their little brother to the south for once, I guess.

Here's my message to all the haters:  Yeah, we played a weak schedule.  Yes, our conference is down this year.  The Dogs might be overrated, they might be underrated.  I don't know, but neither do you.  All I know is that this is a hard- working, overachieving group of kids who have busted their asses to get where they are.  If you don't think they are deserving of the accolaides they have received, that's fine.  You might be right.  We'll find out in the Tournament.  But if you can't be happy for what these kids have overcome, and the class with which they have handled every obsticle that has come their way, then I feel awful for you.  You don't have to  say they are a good team, because that will be shown one way or the other on the court.  But even if they get blown out in the MVC and NCAA Tourney, we alumni and the city of Des Moines will still be proud of what they have accomplished this season, especially in relation to the level of expectation that faced them coming into the year.  And all the four letter words that you can spew won't take that away.

Well, then i hope you get matched up against a Tennesee or a Kansas. You will be up and down the entire night and your shooter won't be able to keep up. You can't count on shooting everynight.

I hope that you actually realize, that Drake's offense is very similar to that of Tennessee if not exactly the same.  Drake's coach Keno Davis was an assistant for Bruce Pearl at Southern Indiana.  The main difference between Drake and Tennessee would be The Vols have much better athletes.  If that were a matchup that happens in the tourney, I think Drake would show up to play and a lot of fans expecting a blowout, will be really pissed when the game is a lot closer than what you expect.

BTW, I know this years KU team is different than the one last year, however, I remember KU supporters accross the board saying that KU would beat SIU by more than 20 points in the Sweet 16, however, they struggled to get a 3 point win.

If Drake does well in the MVC and NCAA tournaments, I see Keno Davis coaching a BCS conference team next season.

I would have to disagree with Keno leaving Drake for a BCS school if Drake does well in the MVC and NCAA tourney.  I think that Keno will stay at Drake for probably 2-3 years.  Even with all of the success that Keno has had at Drake, I would hope that a BCS school AD thoroughly looks at what Keno could bring to them.

Please don't misunderstand me, I think Keno is a great coach and he has a phenomenal job, but if I was an employer I would want to see more.  I don't know how well Keno has done recruiting or even if he is the "main guy" getting players to Drake.  From what I've heard, its been his assistants doing that.  I just don't think Keno is ready to be a BCS coach.  He will be at some point, but I don't think he's done or shown enough to warrant him to leave.

If a BCS school throws $1.5 million at him, he'd be stupid not to take it, but I think he needs 1-2 more years under his belt as a coach before you could see him at a BCS school.

I'm going to have to agree with you on Keno staying. He will want to give Drake more than a year, since they gave him his start. He is going to great things for Drake, he may go, but not any time soon. Drake should have a pretty promising future on the court if they can keep him in Des Moines. Good Luck Bulldogs, and fans! From a Hawkeye fan and UNI alumni, I can't help but wish good luck to your team!

How is KU's team different from last year when they returned all 5 starters?
