rumour mill - priceless

a couple of months ago when Katz (how do you get "Cates" out of that, someone plz explain that to me) made his last offer he was shut down and the ownership group went so far as to pass a motion to never put the team up for sale again, saying they wanted to protect the integrity of the team, or some such prattle.  Also from Edmonton Journal. 

Now "Cates" up's his cash almost $50 million, and all of a sudden the ownership group are his b***h.   I guess "Cates" will be buying "integrity" along with the hockey team. 

I agree Ryan, those local business men saved the club and no real Oiler fan is going to forget that.  They did a great thing ten odd years ago.  And as local businessmen also like to do, they turned a nice little profit on their investment.  Turning over the club to a guy who has the means to turn the club into a legit contender and front some money for a new barn, which benifits the whole city, is quite admirable in my books.  They got to trust Katz, good, they got a nice return on their investments, good, they deserve that after saving our team from being the Houston Oilers.;
