sounds great but the problem is that he has already been a bust in the NBA. Not only that but he has nothing to offer players in the NBA because they already get paid. He does well for the tigers because its easier to get good players when you put some money in their back pocket.

Right now,I think he's a better fit at UM.He just seems more suited for the college game at this time.

Just because Calipari didn't do to well in his first stint in the NBA doesn't mean going to fail the next time. Larry Brown failed his first time after coaching college, went back to coaching college, and then went back to the NBA to win a championship.

I think Calipari would do great with the Grizzlies but I rather he stay with the Tigers and continue keeping them on top.

I thought this new coach of the Grizzlies would put them on the right track but I guess it gonna take some time. Shame that Conley is injured......not that I think it will make a whole lot of difference if he wasn't.

Don't give up on Mark Iavaroni yet, he's a good coach, he did great in Phoenix... It's a shame Pau can't pick it up, I thought he'd do well in their system... And why the hell isn't JC Navarro starting again?

In all honesty, if Gasol/ Navarro got traded for Andres Nocioni, Tyrus Thomas, and whoever, it would help out both teams...

I'd take Nocioni on the Suns anyday...

But I like the Grizzlies, so I hope they get it together:)

Nice cheap shot, loser. I don't know what planet you're living on, but Calipari is doing his job within the rules. I know dumb farts like you love to hate Calipari, but disliking someone and making baseless accusations about "money in back pockets" are two different things. For instance, I think Jim Calhoun is a creep, but I wouldn't go out of my way to make accusations about him being a cheater without some tangible evidence to support the claim.

Calipari has done wonders for the U of M athletic department, and has done so above-board all the way. You may not like it, but leave your childish garbage about cheating to some stupid fan message board where that kind of stuff belongs - among uninformed idiots.

calipari has done well at the college level twice; he did not do well as coach of the
Nets. His style, a yelling, pleading type, is not suited to the pro game.

It may work at the college level, in fact it has, but after a few years, at most, the players
will tune him out. In the college game he has much more turn around of players thus
not getting tuned out from the same guys....will last him much better.

Probably (could be??) a good guy, but his style is certainly not one for long coaching
at the pro level.

Cheap shot from rednecks don't prove anything but your ignorance.   Try to represent yourself well and say something useful.    That attitude has plagued Tennessee for a long time.

here is the skinny on calipari.

how do I know? I am (was) a HUGE kendall gill fan.

Now, hear me out, you may be thinking, so, who the hell is kendall gill? just a washed up former player.

Well, in 1989, Kendall Gill, as a junior, led (along with Nick , sorry blanking on his last name, and another guy, who ddn't make NBA) to the NCAA Semi Finals. They had beaten Michigan, led by 6'7" Michigan star Glen Rice. twice during Big 10 season.

then, in semifinals, Michigan won on a last second tip in, and Michigan went to finals and beat Seton Hall on two last second ft's

by Rumeal Robinson, who then went on to a less than stellar NBA career, mostly with Atlanta.

The coach of Seton Hall was none other than pj carlisimo, who was a LOT LIKE Calipari, very hands on, yelled a lot and

eventually, at Golden State 3 or so years later, got into SPREWELL's head so much that SPRE choked him, twice, and the rest,

as they say , is history.

Anyway, you many be saying, yea, so what?

Well, Kendall Gill went on, in his senior year, to be all american, first team, and was drafted 5th by Charlotte, where he played

two or three years with Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning, They were headed for a POSSIBLE dynasty type of situation, at least

talent wise, when Kill was traded to Seattle for 3 point shooter_____________ from Bradley. Mourning and Johnson didn't last much longer at Charlotte. The word was Gill was too much like Marbury, selfish, not sure about the truth on that claim.

NOw, eventually, Gill ended up with New Jersey....with Calipari as Coach. For 3 years they were together and calipari, though

he improved the Nets team, the Nets were always lousy. One year Gill was their only scoring option and he averaged,

as a 6'5" "small" forward...21 points per game. Needless to say, they had no other options. eventually, with Jason Williams

and marbury and Sam Cassell, they became respectable, and Gill was "morphed" into more of a strong, but small, forward-guard who

could play defense (he holds the record, tied last year, for most steals in an NBA game........11, yea, (no misprint.)

All that is to say, Calipari was and still is a YELLER. He works at Memphis because

1) He has young players.

2) He has grown, in that he shows more respect for his players.

3) The players cycle, go away, etc. from Memphis after 1, 2 or 3 years....

4) The players know they don't have to listen, forever, to Calipari and his yelling on the bench.

5) He doesn't have NBA guys, who for 3-10 million a year, more than Calipari makes, won't put

up with his style..........

thus, though he is an improved version of years ago, still , kind of like a dog barking,

once a yeller, always a yeller. Calipari will NEVER coach NBA again.......he is where he

does best, and is doing a great job there.

Memphis will win the national title.

Why would u leave a position in which u are well paid and treated like a GOD!!!!! If he left the University of Memphis for the Grizzlies he would be run outta town by the fans. Although Memphis supports the Grizz. Given a choice the city would still prefer the TIGERS any day -------- the Tigers are a Winner and the Grizz have proven over and over and over again they do not know how to build a team (hence trying to build around Gasol when he is better suited for a support role)......... If the Grizz wanted or want to build local support they should have drafted or trade for CDR or Dorsey............ for the TIGER fans if you remember the support the city gave to Dorsey and the need for big men on the Grizz I would make a trade from our guard loaded team for drosey.....
