They looked good for the first 23 minutes. Then they just kind of lost focus. Presbyterian played a wierd version of a 1-3-1 zone the whole game. Instead of having a guard on the baseline running corner to corner to trap, they put a forward on the baseline and he never left Maric's back. It took most of the first half for them to figure out how to get the ball in to him with a forward on his back and another fronting him.
Hopefully Doc spent the last week installing a zone offense. They're pretty good shooters, but they can't expect to rely on outside shooting in every game.
If they don't go into the Creighton game 3-0, it will be a VERY long season.

What a weekend for the university. Losing a football coach and getting your butts handed to by Creighton. If not careful they could lose to IPFW. IPFW was able to hang with Wisconsin up in Madison earlier this year. Go Jays.

We'll learn something about the team in the next couple of weeks. They were obviously not ready for the atmosphere @ Creighton, but hopefully they learned from that and will be ready as they play more schools that won't end the season with RPI's over 200.
The next two games will provide a lot of insight into how the season will go.

Great Win against Arizona State. Had some players step up and we played great D. If we can play D like that for most of our games and keep improving with the Off., then we will be ok. It will be interesting to see next years team with all these guys redshirting this year. Sounds like some of them can help this year, but would be better off in the long run with them redshirting. I like what Sadler is doing and look forward to this year to see how we approve.

The team (and especially Maric) has come a long way since the Creighton performance. It will still be a long season in conference if we don't get some consistency from the main contributors, and Maric needs to show up each game. I love the new blood in the line up this year. They can certainly be fun to watch!

After a nice win against Arizona State, the Huskers go to Western Kentucky and lose to the Hilltoppers. So much for that..

If Maric would go up and dunk the damn ball instead of going up soft 80-85% of the time, they would have won. It would also be nice if he'd shoot better than 52% free throws. They are called FREE throws after all.
I know that Doc & the media blamed it all on turnovers, but 23 turnovers isn't a disaster when you force 21 from the other team. You've got to look at all the bunnies & free throws Maric missed. One bunny or free throw made = NU win in regulation.
