Mavs and Lakers would be making a big mistake...

if they traded for Jason Kidd.  Dallas reportedly would get Kidd in a package deal that includes Devin Harris and Jerry Stackhouse.  Such a move would be foolish since Kidd isn't that much better than Harris right now, and Harris has yet to reach his full potential.  Including a good bench scorer in Stackhouse would make the deal look even more foolish.  This team already is arguably the best in the NBA right now as it is..  Do they want a contending team for the next 2 years or the next 7 years?

If the Lakers got Kidd, they would send Jordan Farmar, Kwame Brown, Vladamir Radmonovic, and others.  Now, why would you trade your PG of the future for an old man?  And if they kept Kwame's expiring contract, they will be able to go after some good free agents this offseason.

My main point is, these teams are elite as it is.  Do they wnt to fix something that isn't broken?
