In order to become an active member of the CBSSports.com online community, you must be a registered member, validate your email address and create a Screen Name. Your Screen Name cannot contain "CBS", "SPLN", "SportsLine" or any combination of these. Please keep in mind that you must continue to use your CBS Member ID to sign into CBSSports.com. You cannot sign in with your Screen Name.

Please note: you will be prompted to join when you attempt to do any of the following:

  • Reply to a post
  • Add a member to favorites
  • Rate a post
  • Warn another member
You will be routed back to your place of origin after creating your Screen Name.

After creating your Screen Name you will receive a CBSSports.com Profile. Your CBSSports.com Profile is the hub of your online activity and the place to find all your personal contributions and settings.

Use the "My Profile" link, conveniently located at the top of every CBSSports.com page, or the "Profile" tab when in the message board arena, to access your Profile and keep your important private information up to date.

Edit Info
To edit your personal information, go to your Profile page and click on "Edit Info" at the bottom of the personal Info box. From here you will be able to set public view display settings such as show or hide your Real Name, gender, Email Address and Motto.

Selecting the My Settings or My Account tabs will always bring you to your personal information, whether you click from your Profile page or someone else's.

These tools, along with the ability to delete members from your favorite list, are available only to you, giving you control of your CBSSports.com experience.

Your Profile tracks and displays your contributions to the CBSSports.com community. It displays your standing in the community and includes your contributions with items such as:

  • Your Avatar -- Select an Avatar from our gallery or, once you've grown in the community, create your own!
  • Member Since date-- Tracks your induction into the CBSSports.com community
  • Your Motto -- A few "words of wisdom" if you care to add them
  • Favorites -- Your top teams as selected from the Settings page
  • Favorite Members -- A list and links to other CBSSports.com members in your circle of friends
  • Your Reputation Level -- Your current Reputation Rating and Level with CBSSports.com
  • Latest Postings -- Your most recent contributions (replies to posts and blog entries, polls, messages created, blog entries created)
  • Blog -- Your most recent blog entries, as well as entries from members in your circle of friends.
  • CBS Games -- Your high scores
  • Quicklinks -- Pages you've bookmarked for easy reference
  • Fantasy -- Your level and points
  • Messages for Me -- Your private messages between you and other members (others viewing your Profile will not see this component)

From your Profile page you can view members who have added you as their favorite by clicking the "Connections" link. You can access an archive of all the messages you have posted by clicking the "Messages" link. All the reviews you have given and those you have received can be accessed by clicking on the "Reviews by" and "Reviews to" links, respectively. Finally, you will have access to all the warnings you have given and those you have received by selecting the "Warnings" link. On the "Warnings" page you will have the ability to challenge any warnings you received. If the warning you received was reviewed and deemed as bogus, your challenge will be sustained, however if the warning is deemed as valid, your challenge will be denied. To get more details on what constitutes a valid warning, please refer to our Acceptable Use policy.

Whenever you post a message or blog entry, rate a post or blog entry and review a message or blog entry, your Screen Name is hyperlinked from that content. Other members may view your profile by clicking on your Screen Name.

Only active members of the community can reply to, rate, add a member to the their favorite list or report another member or their contributions.

Members can view your Profile page and from it they can add you to their "Favorite Members" list or warn you based on content you have on your Profile page. They do not have the ability to see your private information.
