Royal Montreal Golf Club (Blue Course)

Royal Montreal Golf Club (Blue Course) (AP)

Although the Royal Montreal Golf Club was founded in 1873, it didn't establish its current home in Ile Bizard, Quebec until 1959 after architect Dick Wilson designed 45 holes there. In 2004, the services of famed course renovator Rees Jones were employed to refashion the club's championship Blue Course.

Royal Montreal has hosted the Canadian Open nine times in its history, the latest being in 2001.

Hole Par Yards
1 4 444
The opening hole at Royal Montreal will test everyone right from the start. An accurate drive is a must on this tricky dogleg left. The green is guarded by two large front bunkers.
2 4 385
This dogleg right hole is fairly short, but it packs a lot of punch. The fairway is lined with several deep bunkers on either side. An accurate approach shot is needed to avoid the four bunkers surrounding the green.
3 4 437
The third hole features a slight dogleg right. The narrow fairway funnels into a difficult three-tiered green that is well guarded up front by bunkers.
4 4 501
The longest par-4 on the course is an uphill dogleg left and difficult driving hole. The green is protected with bunkers to the left and right.
5 3 203
The tee shot on this demanding par 3 is played to an elevated, kidney-shaped green. The green is guarded by two bunkers to the right and a large bunker to the left.
6 5 570
This long par 5, the first of two par 5s on the course, is a dogleg right. Players have a chance for birdie if they can avoid trouble in the four bunkers surrounding the green.
7 3 153
The seventh hole is the shortest hole on the course, but is also one of the toughest. Players need to steer clear of the bunkers for a chance at birdie.
8 4 394
The eighth hole is a dogleg left. The wide fairway opens to a rounded green. Most players will have a chance for birdie with an accurate approach shot.
9 4 437
This hole is a slight dogleg left. Most players will be happy with par on No. 9. The elevated green is narrow and well guarded on both sides.
10 4 460
Water comes into play right away on the back nine. Players have to avoid the large pond on the left side and trees on the right. The rolling green will test everyone.
11 4 476
Players must avoid the two sizable bunkers lining the fairway. The green is well guarded, but there is an opening on the back-left portion of the green.
12 5 570
No. 12 is the second and final par 5 on the course. This hole is reachable in two shots, but many players will elect to go for the more cautious route.
13 3 224
This straight par 3 is played downhill to a well bunkered green. Pin placement really dictates the degree of difficulty.
14 4 369
This slight dogleg left is littered with hazards. The large pond that came into play on No. 10 comes back into play on the left side of the fairway. Trees line the right side of the fairway. The green is tiny and is guarded by a right-side bunker.
15 4 448
Water is once again in play on No. 15. There is a large pond just in front of the green. Not many players will make birdie here.
16 4 456
An accurate tee shot is a must because a large pond lines the left side of this hole. Players then hit to a difficult elevated green.
17 3 160
There is very little room for error on this terrorizing par 3. A precise tee shot is a must because a large pond runs the entire length of the hole.
18 4 466
The finishing hole will challenge everyone. Only a handful of players will attempt to drive it past the pond. The thin green is well bunkered on each side.
