Played ball? Check. Followed sports since a young age? Check. Has family members? Check. Worked at other publications? Check.

Now that we got most of the prerequisite profile page information out of the way, here's the skinny on Eric Kay. Despite our incessant pleas, he often uses words like "cannon" and "works of" when talking about Steven Seagal. He holds a decade-long grudge against the Academy for never recognizing Leslie Nielsen, considers Cinemax one of mankind's most important creations, Al Bundy a father figure and gives Clarence Carter the nod over Ray Charles as his favorite blind musician. We're as astonished as you are that he has a blind-musician ranking system.

He's from Bethesda, Md., but usually tells people, "I'm from Washington, D.C." We're not impressed. He graduated from Miami University (aka Miami of Ohio) and we've heard just about as much as we can stomach regarding the Cradle of Coaches. He also has a master's degree from American University and possesses various other framed documents we think are real, but there's something about that University of Cool diploma that has us skeptical.

He's written for a variety of publications including the Hamilton (Ohio) Journal News, Washingtonian Magazine and Express, a Washington Post publication. He joined CBSSports.com in 2005.

He currently lives in South Florida because, well, that's where CBSSports.com is located.
