Freshman Watch

CBSSports.com Freshman of the Year

Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech: Michael Crabtree can add a few more honors to his amazing freshman campaign as he was named not only as CBSSports.com Freshman of the Year, but was also named to the CBSSports.com All-America Team. Crabtree, who leads the nation with 125 catches for 1,861 yards and 21 touchdowns, shattered the NCAA freshman record of 14 receiving TDs held by three players and set school records in all three categories for the Red Raiders. Crabtree bursts onto the scene right off the bat, scoring 14 touchdowns in the first five games. He had 244 yards against Rice, 237 yards against Oklahoma State, 195 yards against Texas and 154 yards in the upset win against Oklahoma. Crabtree is also a finalist for the Biletnikoff and was most recently became the first freshman since Herschel Walker in 1980 to be named to the American Football Coaches Association All-American team.

Knowshon Moreno

Moreno is starting to remind others of another Georgia running back who ended up winning the Heisman. The running back made just six starts, but heading into the bowl games has 1,273 yards rushing and 12 TDs. He also became the first Bulldog since Walker to rush for 100 or more yards in five consecutive games. He had some of his best games in Georgia's biggest games, rushing for 188 yards and three scores in the victory over Florida and 124 yards in the victory over Kentucky.
