Regarded as one of the top teams in the nation, Memphis basically coasted to title. The Tigers' array of talent was on full display in the final as Chris Douglas-Roberts, the tournament MVP, poured in a career-high 33 points, while freshman sensation Derrick Rose pitched in with 24. Rose averaged 19.8 ppg during the tournament. The ideal final would have featured Memphis and Kentucky, but Gardner-Webb, which was 9-21 last season, stunned the Wildcats -- at Rupp Arena no less. It marked Kentucky's first regular-season loss to a mid-major since 2001.
