THE GOOD NEWS
Junior power forward Jon Brockman, who averaged 17.6 points and a conference-best 11.6 rebounds, returns. The Huskies lose only two seniors from this roster, so they have a good, young foundation in place.

THE BAD NEWS
This was the Huskies' first losing season since Romar's debut season in 2003. Brockman shot 66 percent from the free throw line in 2007, but slipped to a ghastly 51.9 percent this season.

KEY RETURNEES
Brockman will again be the centerpiece, and that's a great starting point. He is a workhorse and an example to his teammates. Sophomore Quincy Pondexter, who played his best basketball late in the season, could emerge as a significant player next year. Venoy Overton, who showed promise at point guard as a freshman, will be expected to improve his shooting accuracy.

ROSTER REPORT

--Junior Jon Brockman, even coming off a badly sprained ankle two weeks before, had 22 points and 12 rebounds in 26 minutes against Valparaiso for his conference-leading 23rd double-double. "He did far better than I thought he would tonight," Romar said. "On a gimpy ankle, he had a double-double again."

--Junior center Artem Wallace suffered what could be a serious knee injury with 18 1/2 minutes left in the first half against Valparaiso. "It just kind of buckled on me," he said.

--Senior guard Ryan Appleby finished the season averaging 11.2 points and shooting 38.5 percent from the 3-point arc. But he was just 1-for-7 from the field against Valparaiso.
