WHAT WENT RIGHT
VMI led the nation in scoring for a second straight season, though the Keydets were not nearly as fast-paced as they were a year ago. The Keydets opened Big South play with two straight wins for the first time and won 14 games in back-to-back seasons for the first time in three decades.

WHAT WENT WRONG
G Austin Kenon, a freshman who averaged 12.2 points per game, was suspended for the season early in Big South play and F Reggie Williams missed four games with a thigh injury. Those factors disrupted VMI's flow and turned the Keydets into an inconsistent bunch incapable of stringing victories together at the end of the year.
