WHAT WENT RIGHT
Milestones included their first victory as a Division I program on Dec. 6 vs. Brevard College; their first defeat of a D-I opponent and first road victory at SMU on Dec. 18; and first Atlantic Sun win on Jan. 12 against Gardner-Webb. Upstate was third in the league in scoring defense and fourth in turnover margin.

WHAT WENT WRONG
The Spartans were 1-20 when allowing opponents to score at least 60 points. They were 3-17 away from home. USC Upstate ranked 12th in the A-Sun in rebounding margin (minus-5.7) and 11th in scoring (63.2 points per game), free-throw shooting (62.2 percent) and scoring margin (minus-7.9).
