THE GOOD NEWS
F Jamelle Cornley is Penn State's spiritual and physical leader and should be poised for a fine senior season in 2008-2009. G Talor Battle has the look of being a premier point guard and has three years of eligibility left.

THE BAD NEWS
F Geary Claxton, who can do it all, will graduate. The Nittany Lions lack inside muscle, particularly when it comes to defense and rebounding.

KEY RETURNEES
Cornley averaged 12.1 points and 6.0 rebounds despite playing on a bad knee all season. Battle had a fine freshman season as he averaged 10.1 points and 3.1 assists. G Chris Babb, a high school senior from Arlington, Texas, should provide some much-needed outside shooting next season.

ROSTER REPORT

--G Talor Battle had a fine freshman season and really stepped up his game once Big Ten play began. He had 13 double-digit scoring games in conference play, establishing career highs on four different occasions and leading the team in eight games. His 12.1 points per game in Big Ten games ranked sixth among conference freshmen.

--F Jamelle Cornley was a third-team all-Big Ten selection despite playing all season with a badly bruised knee that eventually required arthroscopic surgery the day after the regular season ended. The junior is the 16th player in school history with 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career.

--F David Jackson started the final 11 games of his freshman season and showed his potential in the regular-season finale, when he had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double in an overtime upset of Indiana.
