FINAL RECORD
24-13, 10-8 in the Big Ten, fifth place

WHAT WENT RIGHT
G Jamar Butler was the team's only returning starter and the senior provided plenty of leadership as he averaged 14.9 points and 5.9 assists, both team-leading figures, while finishing his career as the school's all-time leader in assists and 3-point field goals. F Kosta Koufos, a freshman, was the NIT's Most Outstanding Player and averaged 14.2 points and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds. Ohio State won seven of its last eight games, including five in a row to capture the NIT.

WHAT WENT WRONG
Inexperience showed inside the Big Ten as the Buckeyes continually came up short against the conference's better teams while finishing in fifth place. G Jon Diebler, the all-time leading scorer in Ohio high school history, had a disappointing freshman year as he lost his spot in the starting lineup and averaged 6.0 points a game.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"This is what happens when you put an NCAA Tournament team in the NIT. Write that down and send it to the committee." -- G Jamar Butler after Ohio State beat Massachusetts 92-85 in the NIT championship game.
