Michigan State had high hopes coming into the season, talking about the possibility of not only winning the Big Ten championship but a national title.

The Spartans didn't reach those lofty goals. However, they did have a fine season as they went 27-9 before losing to Memphis 92-74 in the semifinals of the NCAA South Regional.

While Michigan State loses an all-Big Ten performer in guard Drew Neitzel and its all-time leading shot blocker in center Drew Naymick, the rest of the roster returns intact next season.

That means the Spartans and coach Tom Izzo should be primed for another trip to NCAAs and perhaps a deep run in March.

The top returnees will be sophomore forward Raymar Morgan and freshman guard Kalin Lucas. Morgan averaged a team-high 14.1 points a game and Lucas scored 10.2 points a game.

Michigan State will also have a presence inside in junior forward Goran Suton, who was one of the few bright spots in the loss to Memphis with 23 points and nine rebounds. Suton averaged 9.0 points and 8.2 rebounds.

Brother Spartans,

I believe it is time for all of us to sing the MSU Fight Song.

Just one rule -- only reply the post that is the correct word in the correct order. Of course you all know the fight song and will post correctly.

Michigan State has a really good recruiting class coming in next year with the best recruit being Delvon Roe.

There's a good amount of other strong recruits coming to East Lansing as well.

Any thoughts?

I turned on ESPN radio and listened to Colin Coherd who was in the middle of interviewing Reggie Theas and the question I heard him ask Reggie went something like this.

'Reggie Tom Izzo is considering going to the NBA, having coached at the college and pro level what advice do you have for him regarding the biggest difference between coaching college and the pros'

This next year's schedule is looking really ridiculous. I'm not sure if you guys have seen this yet, but it was just announced that in the ACC/Big 10 challenge, we have UNC coming into Ford Field. For those of you keeping track at home, that is the preseason #1 team in a lot of polls.

We also go to play Texas in Houston, I think. That is the preseason #1 team in the ESPN poll. ...(more)
