Tigers report: Getting inside
Grambling's brief stay in the SWAC tournament could be a microcosm of the entire season. The Tigers trailed Mississippi Valley 24-14 in a first-round game before going on a 16-5 run to take a one-point lead at halftime. MVSU then used a 10-0 spurt to go back in front and then won the game by eight by hitting its free throws. Grambling lost its four games in the conference, including an overtime loss to Alcorn, before winning six of its next seven. The Tigers then lost six of its last seven games. The expectations were high for the Tigers and playing in a new facility added to that excitement. But the Tigers sputtered on offense all season, averaging 66.4 points a game, while allowing 77.
