In the end, Lazar Trifunovic's injury was too much to overcome for Binghamton.

Trifunovic, who battled back spasms late in the season, toughed it out against Vermont in the America East tournament.

But the sophomore forward, who led the Bearcats in scoring, struggled with his shot, finishing just 5 of 18 in the season-ending loss.

Next season, Trifunovic will lead a roster filled with up-and-comers.

"Today, for 35 minutes, I thought these guys were the better players and the last five the champions came out of those guys from Vermont," head coach Kevin Broadus said after his team's 65-57 loss to Vermont in the conference tournament.

"That's what I told them before the game. I want to build a program like that, five straight years in the league championship like these guys have done. We're going to start tomorrow. Today closes one chapter in the book and tomorrow opens another."
