WHAT WENT RIGHT
The Sun Devils improved seven games in the Pac-10 standings from 2-16 in the conference the year before. ASU was just the fifth team in 30 years to go from last place in the league to a .500 record. The Sun Devils averaged eight more points per game than a year ago.

WHAT WENT WRONG
Despite finishing in a tie for fifth place in what was considered the Pac-10's finest season, the Sun Devils were bypassed for the NCAA Tournament because of a poor strength of schedule.
