WHAT WENT RIGHT
First-team All-SWAC selection William Byrd and Jarvis Gunter carried the Golden Lions through an up-and-down season. The Golden Lions also played exceptional defense throughout most of the season, allowing an average of 64.3 points a game, while holding six SWAC opponents under 60 points.

WHAT WENT WRONG
UAPB could not find any offense, averaging only 60.3 points a game. William Byrd was the team's leading scorer at 12.5 points a game, but besides Larry Williams, no one else averaged more than nine points a game.
