One more trip: Curry will return for junior season

DETROIT -- Minutes after his sophomore season ended Sunday in the Midwest Region final against Kansas, Davidson superstar Stephen Curry told CBSSports.com that he will return for his junior season, "no matter what anyone says I should do."

Curry, who undoubtedly played his way into the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft with his breakout performance in the Midwest Region -- he averaged 32 points in four games to earn the region's Most Outstanding Player award -- said he's not ready for the pro game, on or off the court.

"I have a lot of things I need to work on this summer," he said. "Plus we're going to have another great team next year, and I'd like to come back and get here again."

Curry played shooting guard this season but will get major minutes next season at point guard with the graduation of teammate Jason Richards. A slender 6-foot-3, Curry's professional future hinges on his ability to play either backcourt position.

You betcha! Dell knows that his son's body is not ready for the NBA. He's grown 4 inches in two years. He needs to fill out for the rugged and grueling NBA season. He is also very close to his father. I believe he will have a solid NBA career, but not next year. Wise decision team Curry!

It's nice and refreshing to hear someone like Stephen Curry, on the heels of one of the greatest tourneys in recent times, dismissing the NBA and opting to return for at least another year.

This guy stands for all the things collegiate athlete should stand for.  That's why everyone's so high on him.  The piece prior to the game today illustrates what he's all a ...(more)

This is good news for Davidson... But for Curry this could be a huge mistake. With the performance that he had in this tournament, he surely earend himself a first round pick. Not likely high enough to be a lottery pick, but higher then it otherwise would have been. NBA teams would be all over him right now. Does he really think he can play the same way next year? Teams will lose interest, people ...(more)

If  Stephen Curry didn't have a Dad who played in the NBA and is not struggling for cash, he would have never stayed in school.  Now he will not even get drafted after his junior or senior season.  Any other kid would understand that now is the time to leave if he has his best future in mind.  Does he think he can duplicate his tourney performance next year???  Give me a b ...(more)

Stephen Curry has the world ahead of him...he has a talented team, a talented coach and the support of his school.  He should finish college and it will give him time to develop his pure stroke and bulk up to meet the demands of the NBA.  At the rate he is going and the eventuality of another NCAA dance, he could end up with some accolades which will bolster his draft chances when he ...(more)

He chooses to stay in school. Great decision a pure shooter like Curry will benefit and most likely develope other parts of his game to be more NBA ready. He has the talent and ability to become more that a J.J. Reddic and not just be a shooter. Let Steph develope his all around game and enjoy these fun years of his life doing so.

Curry good call... The NBA will be there and you'll have a good career in the NBA.. Now imagine  if the NBA had a 21 year old rule...you can't play till you are 21..I believe the NFL has this rule...Love, Beasley, Rose, et al...would be back next year and college BB would be so much better.
