Golf on CBS: Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial preview

Sabbatini, Mickelson, Furyk, Ogilvy and Choi headline field at "Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial" on May 24-25 on CBS Sports

World No. 2-ranked Phil Mickelson returns to Fort Worth and historic Colonial Country Club for the first time since 2005 as part of a strong tournament field looking to dethrone defending champion Rory Sabbatini. For the 35th straight year, CBS Sports also returns to Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, with third- and final-round coverage of the "Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial" on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 (3-6 p.m., ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network

Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo provide commentary from the 18th hole tower for CBS' coverage of the Colonial. Peter Oosterhuis calls the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole and Dallas resident David Feherty at the 15th hole. Peter Kostis serves as on-course reporter. Ian Baker Finch, reporting from the course with Kostis, is the last Australian to win at Colonial Country Club (1989). Finch also was the last first-round leader of the Colonial who went on to win when he opened with a 7-under 65.

Last year Sabbatini out-lasted Jim Furyk and Bernhard Langer by making birdie on the first playoff hole to capture his fourth PGA TOUR title. Since the inaugural event in 1946, only Ben Hogan successfully defended his title, doing it in 1947 and 1953.

Sabbatini tees it up against a field which includes 2000 Colonial champion Mickelson, Furyk, Geoff Ogilvy, K.J. Choi, Davis Love III, Paul Goydos, Anthony Kim, Justin Leonard, Chad Campbell, Nathan Green, Arron Oberholser, Steve Stricker, Tom Lehman, Tim Clark, Jesper Parnevik, Mike Weir, Nick O'Hern, Steve Flesch, Rich Beem, Lucas Glover, Brett Wetterich and two-time Colonial champion Kenny Perry.

Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports’ golf coverage.
