CONNECTICUT NATIVE J.J. HENRY DEFENDS TITLE IN “TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP” ON CBS SPORTS JUNE 23-24
Fairfield native J.J. Henry became the first Connecticut-born player in the 55-year history of the tournament to win the TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP last year. Henry defends his title this week as CBS Sports covers all the action from the TPC at River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn., broadcasting the third and final rounds on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network.
Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo, CBS Sports’ golf anchor and lead analyst, respectively, provide commentary from the 18th hole tower. Henry shot a 7-under par 63 in the third round last year TPC River Highlands which carried through to a three-stroke win over Hunter Mahan and Ryan Moore. The victory made Henry the 11th player to claim his first PGA TOUR win at the Travelers Championship. He’ll face a strong field this week that includes Vijay Singh, Stewart Cink, Justin Rose, Stuart Appleby, Padraig Harrington, Zach Johnson, Arron Oberholser, Rod Pampling, Jesper Parnevik, Mark Calcavecchia, Steve Elkington, Brad Faxon, Tim Herron, Shigeki Maruyama, Nick O’Hern, Chad Campbell, Chris DiMarco, David Toms, Tom Lehman, Jerry Kelly, Fred Funk, Rich Beem, Kenny Perry and David Branshaw.
