JIM NANTZ AND JAMES BROWN LEAD CBS SPORTS’ NOMINATIONS FOR 2006 SPORTS EMMY AWARDS
CBS Sports’ Coverage of The Masters®, THE NFL ON CBS and Tour de France Garner Multiple Nominations to Highlight Network’s Other Nominations
THE NFL TODAY Studio Show Earns Nod for First Time Since Return of NFL to CBS in 1998
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Gets Nominated; and CBS SportsLine.com Earns Two for Broadband Coverage of March Madness® and The Masters®
Jim Nantz and James Brown lead the list of CBS Sports’ 14 nominations for the 2006 Sports Emmy Awards by earning a nomination in the category of OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – Play-by-Play and for OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – Studio Host, respectively.
Among the other nominations for CBS Sports include multiple nominations for the Network’s coverage of the Masters®, in which Phil Mickelson won his second green jacket, for OUTSTANDING LIVE SPORTS SPECIAL and OUTSTANDING OPEN/TEASE (The Masters Sunday); THE NFL ON CBS for OUTSTANDING LIVE SPORTS SPECIAL (Pittsburgh-Indianapolis AFC Divisional Playoff game), OUTSTANDING STUDIO SHOW – Weekly (THE NFL TODAY), OUTSTANDING OPEN/TEASE (AFC Championship) and OUTSTANDING EDITING (NFL Thanksgiving Tease); and the “Tour de France” for OUTSTANDING LIVE EVENT TURNAROUND and The Dick Schaap WRITING AWARD.
CBS Sports’ coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship earned a nomination for OUTSTANDING SHORT FEATURE (Jason McElwain) and Dick Enberg earned a nomination for The Dick Schaap WRITING AWARD for “Enberg’s Essays” on the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.
Rounding out the Network’s nominations are two for OUTSTANDING EDITED SPORTS SPECIAL (The Moment: 25 Years and Tiger at 30).
CBS SportsLine.com earned two nominations for OUTSTANDING BROADBAND – COVERAGE (Amen Corner Live and March Madness on Demand).
