CBS SPORTS' RATINGS FOR FIRST ROUND OF
2007 NCAA MEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP BEST SINCE 1991
CBS Sports' exclusive live coverage of the 2007 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship on Thursday, March 15 (12:15-5:30 PM, ET, and 7:00 PM-12:00 AM, ET) and Friday, March 16 (12:15-5:45 PM, ET, and 7:00 PM-12:15 AM, ET) earned an average overnight household rating/share of. 5.0/11. The 5.0/11 ties with 2005's 5.0/11 in the metered markets as the best two-day average since 1991. The 5.0/11 is also up +2% from last year's 4.9/11.
CBS Sports' second broadcast window (2:45-5:45 PM, ET) highlighted by Winthrop upsetting Notre Dame and Nevada beating Creighton in overtime, scored an average overnight household rating/share of 4.3/11, up +5% from last year's 4.1/11. The 4.3/11 was the highest rating in the second broadcast window since a 1991, when CBS began broadcasting the afternoon windows.
The third broadcast window of the day (7:00-9:45 PM, ET) earned an average overnight household rating/share of 6.0/11, up +3% from a 5.8/10 in 2006. The 6.0/11 is the second highest rating in the window since a 6.2/11 in 2002.
The first window of the day (12:15-2:45 PM, ET) scored a 3.5/11, up +3% from a 3.4/11 last year. The final primetime window (9:45 PM-12:15 AM, ET) earned a 6.3/11.
For the day on Friday CBS Sports earned an average overnight household rating/share of 5.0/11, up +2% from a 4.9/11 in 2006.
